Samenvatting

To this date, Die Rose (1278-1325), the Brabantine translation of the influential Old French Roman de la Rose (ca. 1278), has received little scholarly attention. This lack of interest may be due to the fact that the traditional methods used by medievalists for describing translations are not suitable for Die Rose. In this article I will argue that the methods developed in the field of descriptive translation studies, and the discussions about these models may offer new perspectives for the study of medieval translations and of Die Rose in particular. Finally, I will propose a specific model for describing Die Rose.
