Politieke romans van vrouwelijke auteurs

Odile Heynders

Samenvatting

What role do contemporary writers have in political discussions and debates on societal issues? International publishing authors like Ohran Pamuk, Salman Rushdie or Michel Houellebecq comment on multiculturalism, globalization or consumerism. However, they watch for making their work a pamphlet or moral guide. In recent Dutch literature we see the same phenomenon of increasing political commitment in work of Joost Zwagerman, Arnon Grunberg and Robert Anker. And we can detect even more. Especially in novels written by female authors we notice an interest in collective themes and deliberations. Authors like Marjolijn Februari, Nelleke Noordervliet and Charlotte Mutsaers write a new form of literature engagée, in which a multiplicity of voices is represented.
