Jong bezield of oud bedaard? Een nieuwe editie van Willem Kloos' Verzen en de keuze van een basistekst

Samenvatting

For a new edition of the volume of poetry Verzen by Willem Kloos (1859-1938) this article explores the method of choosing a base text for reading editions as that is done today. It seems that the choice is often made by considering four parameters, namely authority, the influence by other persons, the author's method of working and the literary-historical circumstances. However text editors do not take into account the different representations (or 'images') of the author that come with each version. Only when the editor is also aware of that aspect s/he can make a well-considered choice.
