Samenvatting

The collection Trou Moet Blijcken is the largest handwritten collection of rhetoricians plays that still exists today. Much research has been done on the rhetoricians from Haarlem and this collection. However, a clear image of how and why this collection was formed and used is still missing. In this article, the origin of the collection will be described, as well as how the collection was used over time. This will be done by combining existing information from literature on the Haarlem rhetoricians and their collection with newly gathered data from codicological research.
