Spreukstrofen op een perkamenten rol

Dieuwke van der Poel

Samenvatting

This article provides an edition of sixty maxims transmitted on a parchment scroll from the fourteenth century. To provide context, the introduction inventories all such scrolls with Middle Dutch texts. Scrolls were often used for short texts which at a later stage could serve as material for miscellanies. The sixty short texts are stanzas, not songs; they have a rhymescheme of aabccb. The main topics are love, friendship, wisdom and foolishness. The language of the scribe points towards Limbourg.
