Aldus sprak Zarathustra door ... Albert Helman. Het beeld van Duitsland en de Duitsers in de Nederlandse clandestiene literatuur (1940-1945)
Samenvatting
Abstract – In the Netherlands more clandestine (resistance) literature was published than in any other country under German occupation during the second World War. Although the aesthetic quality of these books is often poor, clandestine literature represents a unique perspective on the reaction by the Dutch resistance to Nazi propaganda: while the Germans hoped to build bonds with their "Germanic brothers," clandestine literature insisted on their incompatibility, depicting the German spirit as intrinsically subservient to authority, in contrast with the Dutch attachment to freedom. A particularly interesting case is Albert Helman's study of the German national character in Aldus sprak Zarathustra (1944).
